I don’t water it. I don’t fertilize it. I don’t move it into or out of the light. For years and years, the potted desert rose bush on my front walk has been nurtured solely by whatever rain and sun the South Florida clime provides. Yet despite my willful lack of care, each new season’s blooms grow fuller, more colorful, and more photogenic than the last. Photographed in Coral Springs, Florida, March 31, 2015. Interesting desert rose was well deserved to be photographed. It was already beautiful itself and with the vibrant yellowish green background made it extra stunning. A lovely capture Kenn! 😉

Beautiful – both how it looks and how it behaves! I think I’ll need one of those hardy plants for my terrace.

I found this post very funny, because I also have a desert rose and care for it in the very same way. Mine was potted for a couple years before I finally decided to put it in the ground last year hoping it would grow larger. Just yesterday I checked on it because I hadn’t seen any green on it at all, and there she was! The first flower of the year with her little ‘buds’ on the way. Such a hardy little plant.
