The entrance to the Public Catalog Room at the Main Branch of the New York Public Library—just one of the innumerable features (both interior and exterior) that make this building an architectural marvel. Oh, and it also has books. Photographed in New York City, November 28, 2014. Higher resolution versions of this photo can be viewed at 500px.com.
Perfect perspective. The editing reminds me of those medieval paintings. Very creative and interesting. Not the usual innocuous photo of that interior. 😉
Thank you so much, George, for noticing the details in this presentation. The fresco above that doorway (and another one above the door on the opposite side of the hallway) just draws one’s eyes up from ground level, and I was trying to capture that sensation. So glad you like it! 🙂
The shooting angle really emphasizes the grandeur of the entrance.
Thank you, Pat—glad to know that comes through in the photo.
Wow! What a treasure. Pretty sure my daughter and I would just move in, given half a chance!
It’s really quite a remarkable place, Melissa, and the beauty of the architecture is only the beginning—the vastness of the library’s contents (books, periodicals, maps, geneaological information, historical documents, etc.) is stunning.
Bellissima raccolta di foto, veramente stupenda!!
Complimenti.
Ciao, Patrizia
Grazie mille, caro Patrizia!
Love how you took this pic from a low angle! ❤ It made me focus more on the details of the library . Thank you for sharing Kenn! 🙂
