From a bed of impatiens, and with the help of a macro lens, this silky bloom stands out. Photographed in Coral Springs, Florida, July 29, 2014. Higher resolution versions of this photo can be viewed at 500px.com.
beautiful
Thank you!
Fabulous shot, Kenn! I have some impatiens too, and for some reason, they are very challenging for me to photograph. The darker colored ones especially. You did an outstanding job on this little lady!!! Love, Amy
Thank you, Amy! I have the same problem with the richly colored impatiens—hard to get the textures to show through. I got lucky with this one.
Yes, you did, Kenn. The textures are what I have trouble with too. Too much saturation … decrease the sat … not enough sat … light not right …. grrrr ……. You really did a great job with this!! I understand what it takes to get an impatien!!! I’ll keep trying!!!! (((HUGS))) Amy
Lovely.
Thank you, Pat!
So beautiful, Kenn, and what a gorgeous color!!
Thank you, Lisa—another lucky shot!
Very nice! Did you use the grainy enhancement on this? I like it! I’m gonna have to try it!
Thank you, Andy! No, I did not use anything to enhance the texture on this—I just got very close to the flower with a 55mm macro lens set at a shutter speed of 1/1600, an aperture of f/5.6, and a film speed of 100 ISO. All that, plus the lucky break of a very bright late-morning sun, combined to reveal the genuinely silky texture of the bloom.
Very nice!
