Unabashed and unafraid, this camera-friendly limpkin patiently preened and posed for several dozen clicks of my shutter. Photographed at Green Cay Nature Center in Boynton Beach, Florida, September 22, 2013. Higher resolution versions of this photo can be viewed at 500px.com.

Great shot. I have these sort of birds flying into my pond, eating my fish, every now and again!
Was it caught by chance, or did you have to sit and wait for it?

  Thank you. The shot was purely by chance. I was strolling along the boardwalk at Green Cay, and the bird was just standing there on the railing, sunning itself, thoroughly unruffled.
