Usually, if I creep to within 30 feet of a heron, it’ll bolt after hearing two or three snaps from my camera. Not this one. This blue heron stood his ground fearlessly as I clicked away with a 250mm lens from about ten yards. Taken at the Green Cay Nature Center in Boynton Beach, Florida, on August 18, 2013. Herons are at best unpredictable> I was shooting yesterday over a path into a pond. The Heron never moved, a runner went by between us and it did not move. People walked with feet it did not move. Other times no sooner do you lift the camera but its off. Nice shot!
