Though a Green Heron’s feathers can sometimes (as here) appear blue, its chestnut body, its white chest stripe, and the distinctive green halo around its eyes confirm its identity. This one just nabbed itself some lunch from a canal in Coral Springs, Florida. Photographed June 18, 2014. Higher resolution versions of this photo can be viewed at 500px.com.
